This site is dedicated to the memory of Henry James Walter

Henry Walter was born in Leeds on October 25, 2012. He was the only son of Mark and Vicky and the little brother of Tilly. Henry was a very bright and loving little boy. He loved Lego, Ice lollies, Playdoh, Octonauts, Paw Patrol and his toy farm. Most of all he loved dinosaurs!
Henry had learned to ride his balance bike during a caravan holiday to the New Forest and had just learned to wear "big boys pants".He had started pre school at Valley View Primary School on the 5th January 2016.
On Wednesday 20th January 2016 Henry had been to school in the morning and was excited to have got a sticker for helping to tidy up. Later he and Mummy collected Tilly from school. He ate all his tea and played with Tilly. Tilly was teaching him how to sit with his legs crossed and took a photo which she texted to Daddy, who was at work.
Later, Henry ate all his supper, had a drink and went to bed. After a story he went to sleep. About an hour later he shouted that he had tummy ache and Vicky gave him some Calpol. Another hour later Henry shouted that he felt sick and Vicky took him to the bathroom. He went back to sleep and Vicky rang Mark to tell him Henry was poorly.
Vicky took Henry into her bed and he fell asleep on her chest.
Mark came home from work and not long after he arrived Henry was sick again. They changed the bed and Henry went to sleep with Mark. Mummy went to sleep in Henry's bed as she had to be up early for work.
At 5am Mark was woken by Henry breathing strangely. He tried to wake him but he didn't respond. Mark shouted to Vicky to call an ambulance and carried Henry downstairs.
The ambulance responder was nearby and arrived within 2 minutes. Henry was given emergency care and rushed to Leeds General Infirmary. Within an hour his family were told he was not likely to survive. He was taken to the High Dependency Unit following a CT scan which revealed his brain was swollen. At 2.10pm  tests confirmed no response. He never regained consciousness.
Henry was visited by his close family. Tilly helped to take hand and footprints. Daddy washed Henry and dressed him in his big boy pants, dinosaur pyjamas, his dressing gown and some socks to keep his feet warm. They put his taggy blanket in his hand and clipped his dummy to his dressing gown, he couldn't sleep without them. Vicky, Mark and Tilly kissed and cuddled him and said their goodbyes and then let the doctors turn off the support.
A few minutes later the medical staff said that Henry had gone and Mark and Vicky said their last goodbye to their precious son.
He looked perfectly peaceful as if he were just asleep.
A few days later it was confirmed that Meningitis had taken Henry. The cause was later identified as Haemophilus Influenza type F. There was never any sign of illness or any rash.
Henry will forever be loved and missed by Vicky, Mark, Tilly, Nana Lynne, Papa George, Grandma Elaine, Grandad Richard and all his other family and friends.
